Excellent tips Paul. But I could not find the Effects icon in Appearance of XP.
jaya
I just realised that the option is under Appearance->Display->Appearance->Effects.
Just to add, to do this from the Microsoft webpage, one must be using IE and enable ActiveX.

Hi,
I use Mandrake because my machine keeps crashing in Windows mode, is there some way to install unicode in Mandrake?
SC
I need more information about the problem on windows. Is it crashing when visiting chintha.com? What is os and browser you are using?
On mandrake, you can download and install anjali unicode font. Please refer to mandrake user guide for font installation instructions.
You can download pango enabled firefox browser from http://bunny.medhas.org/download/firefox-1.0.en-US.linux-pango_patch-xft-gtk2-i686.tar.gz
unzip and untar the above file in your home directory and start firefox from there.

How do you change the default Malayalam font in Windows from Kartika to Rachana? Also, I can't get Rachana to work in MS Word 2003. In the Fonts dialog, there is no option to select Rachana as the Complex Scripts font.
I had the same problem on my laptop (lcd screen). Uninstalling the rachana_w01 opentype font (installed from rachana_w01.otf), and installing the truetype font
from rachana_w01.ttf seems to fix the problem. I had cleartype enabled by the way. I think it interfered with the otf format.

Sabu
I couldn't find an answer after searching the net including microsoft web site.
If you are really annoyed, you can always uninstall kartika and reinstall
a "renamed" rachana. e-mail me if you want a kartika.ttf file that is actually
rachana. caveat emptor.

Right now, I'm grappling with the same problem. I installed Anjali, for varamozhi. Then I wanted to change my MS Word Malayalam default font to an old lipi font. I downloaded Rachana and uninstalled Kartika. But, now, Anjali seems to have become the default Malayalam font. If you could find any solution, do inform me. renuramanath@hotmail.com, renuramanath@yahoo.co.in
